Maratea is mostly visited for the statue of Jesus (similar to the more famous one
at Rio de Janiero). It is high on a ridge above the town of Maratea and on a clear
day can be seen from Policastro Bussentino. Just drive south along the coastal road
from Policastro for about 15 miles and you will come to the town of Maratea, then
you should follow the brown signs for “statua del Redentore”. The coastal views from
here are also very beautiful.
